Atlantis University respects your privacy. This SMS Privacy Policy explains how Atlantis University collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information related to the AUProgramUpdates SMS messaging program. This SMS Privacy Policy applies specifically to SMS communications and should be read together with the Atlantis University general Privacy Policy available at https://atlantisuniversity.edu/privacy-policy/.

Information We Collect

When you opt in to receive SMS messages from Atlantis University, we may collect and use information such as your mobile phone number, name, email address, contact information, inquiry or lead status, applicant or student status, application status, program of interest, expected start date if provided, communication preferences, SMS consent status, SMS opt-in date and time, SMS opt-out date and time, message delivery status, message interaction records, and CRM or system identifiers associated with your record.

How We Use SMS Information

Atlantis University may use SMS information to send messages related to admissions, application updates, incomplete application reminders, missing document reminders, appointment reminders, enrollment onboarding, program information related to your inquiry or application, student and alumni support, and follow-up communications.

We may also use SMS information to respond to your messages, provide automated replies, route your request to the appropriate department, update communication records, maintain opt-in and opt-out status, prevent messages from being sent to users who have opted out, and improve communication workflows.

Payment-Related Application Reminders

If SMS messages relate to an application or enrollment payment step, Atlantis University will use SMS only for non-sensitive reminders. SMS messages should not include financial account numbers, card data, account balances, debt collection language, or other sensitive financial information.

SMS Consent

By providing your mobile number and affirmatively opting in, you consent to receive recurring text messages from Atlantis University under the AUProgramUpdates program. SMS consent is optional and is not a condition of purchase, application, enrollment, or receiving services from Atlantis University. The SMS consent checkbox should not be pre-selected.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your inquiry status, application status, student status, communication preferences, activity, and interactions with Atlantis University.

You may receive automated replies when you interact with Atlantis University by SMS. If you start an application and do not complete it, Atlantis University may send up to three reminder messages on separate days after inactivity, followed by less frequent follow-up messages, such as weekly or monthly reminders, unless you respond, complete the relevant step, or opt out.

Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply to each message sent or received, according to your mobile service plan.

Systems and Service Providers

Atlantis University may store or process SMS-related information in systems used to manage communications and student engagement, including Twilio for SMS delivery and opt-out handling, Zoho for CRM and student/prospect records, GoHighLevel for communication workflow or campaign management where applicable, Atlantis University website forms or application systems, and other service providers that support Atlantis University operations. These service providers are authorized to process information only as needed to provide services to or on behalf of Atlantis University, maintain records, support communications, or comply with legal and operational requirements.

No Sale or Third-Party Marketing Sharing of SMS Consent

Atlantis University does not sell, rent, or share your SMS opt-in information, mobile number, or SMS consent status with third parties for their own marketing or promotional purposes. SMS opt-in data and consent will not be shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Operational Sharing

Atlantis University may share SMS-related information with service providers who help deliver SMS messages, manage communications, operate CRM or application systems, maintain opt-in and opt-out records, provide support services, audit delivery and compliance, or protect against misuse. These providers are not permitted to use SMS consent data for their own independent marketing purposes.

How to Opt Out

You may opt out of AUProgramUpdates SMS messages at any time by replying STOP. After replying STOP, you will receive a confirmation message and no further AUProgramUpdates SMS messages will be sent unless you opt in again. Atlantis University may also support standard opt-out keywords such as STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, QUIT, STOPALL, REVOKE, and OPTOUT, depending on Twilio configuration.

Support is generally available Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time, excluding holidays and university closures. Support is available in English and Spanish.

Data Security

Atlantis University uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to help protect information collected through the SMS program. Access to SMS-related information should be limited to authorized personnel and service providers with a business need to operate, support, audit, or improve the SMS program.

Data Retention

Atlantis University may retain SMS-related information as needed to provide services, maintain communication records, comply with legal or regulatory obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, manage opt-in and opt-out preferences, and support compliance audits. Consent and opt-out records should be retained for as long as needed to document consent and honor opt-out preferences, and generally no less than four years from the last SMS interaction or opt-out where legally and operationally appropriate. Message logs and delivery metadata may be retained according to system capabilities, operational needs, audit requirements, and Atlantis University record retention practices. Backup and security logs may be retained for limited periods according to applicable system policies.

Children

AUProgramUpdates is intended for prospective students, applicants, leads, active students, former students, and alumni who are legally able to provide their own consent or whose communications are otherwise authorized by applicable law and university procedures.

Atlantis University does not knowingly use this SMS program to collect SMS consent from children under the age of 13.

Carrier Liability

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
